project

judicial complex graz-jakomini

A new entrance and administrative building is planned for the Graz-Jakomini penitentiary, next to the building of the Regional Court that dates back to the 19th century. The building is equipped with state-of-the-art security technology. The decisive aspects of this project are for one embedding functional requirements created by a modern penal system into the surrounding city and building and secondly the assurance of smooth and perfect, long-term operation of the entire complex of the Jakomini penal institution – above all in terms of security technology – and possible future extensions. The draft aims at using the detached location of the old penitentiary in combination with the regional court in its urban setting and to underline the solitary character of the complex under monument protection and to group the new buildings in a similarly compact manner and so that expansion is possible.
